A Prima Mixed Media vintage Telephone box - a class

Last weekend, I had an advanced Silhouette class. One of the tasks for the participants, was to create their own telephone box from a photo.

This photo box, is my own design. The photo box is made with Papers from Prima's Sun Kiss Collection - Sun Dried. I have mounted a small led light inside the photo box. The battery is hidden in the roof of the telephone box. I have used a 3V battery from an old computer. The switch for the led light is from an electrical tea light, that I dismantled.

I have created a vintage telephone inside the telephone box. I have also made small telephone books, which is hanging from the telephone table inside the box. The door to the telephone box is hinged, and locks with a magnet.

The flowers are mainly from Prima, but some of them are also from Wild Orchid craft. The base is done with papers from The Stationers desk. The base has also been covered with an overlay with words. The overlay was the base for a set of Prima flowers. I have always saved these overlays, to see if I could use them for something. I have also used Gesso, micro beads, stamps and different paints on the base, to create some effects.

The tap, is from a Prima set, designed by Ingvild Bolme. I have used Meta Mica to create effects on the tap. The water drops has been made by cutting half beads from round to drops.

The sign in from Prima, and has been mounted on a part from a vintage type writer.

The butterfly is a wood icon from Prima.

Papercraft and Mixed Media projects exhibited at Hobbykunst Megastore

This week is the last week Hobbykunst Megastore will be open at Vestby. During the Easter, the shop will move to Oslo and mainly function as an online store.

Before moving the shop, I took photos of some of my projects on display and made a short film. You can see the film at the end of this blogpost. Making things for show in the store is something I have really enjoyed.

Working with alcohol ink on backgrounds

We are inspiering you with alcohol inks at StampARTic today. Alcohol ink is always an interesting to use. It gives so many oportunities to colour different materials and backgrounds and inspire me to test out new ways of using it.

Today, I am showing an acetate based card. The edge is made from Prima's - Seashore - Seahorse paper. The motive is from Pion, but most of the other papers and embellishments are from Prima.

I have used alcohol ink to create some background colour on the acetate, at the edge of the motive. The background has been built up with layers from paper, wood icons, metal, flowers, beads and glitter. At the end, some of the background was also coloured with alcohol ink

The back of the card. The card stand is a free cutting file from Birds Cards.

A Prima Birthday paper bag

We have a new challenge over at Scandinavia Paper Fun. This time, the challenge is birthdays.

I have created a small birthday bag with papers from Prima - Prima - Something Blue Collection - Enchanted Blooms. The "Happy Birthday" die cut is a silhouette file. Flowers are from Prima and Wild Orchid. The wooden butterfly is from Prima. I have distressed the edges. I have also used my own number stencil and used gesso to make an effect on the paper. There is also a lot of small metal beads and small metal charms among the flowers.

The "Happy Birthday" die cut is a silhouette file. This box was filled with 9 small punches and given as a small birthday treat for a 5 year old girl - who really wants to start cardmaking.

A Prima Center Step Easel card with tutorial

Today, I have created a tutorial for a Center Step Easel card for StampARTic.

This is an example of the card, finished decorated. The paper is a mixture of Prima's Butterfly-Vintage ATC and papers from old Prima collections. The Chipboard diecut is from Wycinanka. Roses are from Wild Orchids. I have also used different dies from Marianne design, Prima and Memory box. The leaf stamp and punch is from Nellie Snellen.

The step card is locked in place with the easel part of the card.

The back of the card is decorated with a flap, with space to  write a message.

How to create the card:

Here is the template for the card. Cut and score in bazzill, after the template in bazzill.

Glue the two parts together. This is split in two because of the short length of standard bazzill.

Cover the bazzill with panels of patterned paper.

Fold the Center step card.

Fold the Easel/ back side of the card around, and under the step side of the card.

The little flip at the end of the Easel card will hold the step card in place.

To fold the card flat, to send it, fold the Easel part of the card up, and into the middle of the card itself.

You are now able to fold the card flat.

Have fun

Send med an e-mail if you would like the Silhouette file for this card.

Butterfly Mixed Media heart box

This is the last of the three heart boxes published in the February's issue of "Ett trykk" as a part of my guest designer spot.  The aim was to create three quite different Prima based boxes with the same template. They are all built out of bazzill. The boxes are all 6cm x 13cm x 11cm.

The paper is from: Prima - Epiphany - Manifestation of Love. I have also used distress paint  (Moved Lawn og mustard seed) and MetaMica - Pauashell with my own "coffee spills" stencil. The photo with the butterfly, is one of my own.

Embellishemts: Prima Junkyard Findings – Water Pipe Frames and Small Typo Bulbs. Flowers and brads are from Prima.

The box is hand made, with the same template as the other Mixed Media heart box, however, this box has got a shadow box lid. The size is 6cm x 13cm x 11cm.

I have used papers from Prima; - Something Blue - Enchanted Blooms and Love Melodies. Embellishments are from: Prima Junkyard Findings - Industrial Lamps. The flowers are from Prima and Wild Orchid craft.  The photos are old family photos.

Innsiden: Prima - Epiphany - Manifestation of Love

A Mixed Media Heart box

I was asked to be a guest designer for the magazine "Ett Trykk" for a year. This hear box was printed in the February issue.

The heart shaped box is hand made. The size is: 6cm x 13cm x 11cm. I used a mixed media "snake skin" effect inspired by Andy Skinner on the box. I then drypainted the box with acrylic paint (black, blue and white), MetaMica (Blue Steel and Pauashell), Distress Paint (salty ocean og picket fence) and Inca Gold (Champagne) to reveal the texture.

I have used different metal and flower embellishments to decorate the box. Some of the embellishments has been painted.

The inside of the box has been covered with paper from Prima - (Stationers Desk - Side Note)
